The Terroir

Just Gravel, well-drained, deep, blinding white, 250-300m altitude, south-facing Gravel...that's why we're here.

The Plants

Carignan from 1911 and 1952 are basis of Lo Viehl, Grenache gris makes the white, nearly 3 newly planted hectares have started producing Syrah, Mourvedre, Counoise, Cabernet Sauv., Viognier, Marsanne, and AOC Muscat in 2004. New white vines (Macabeu, Terret, Grenache Blanc, more Muscat--bringing us to 13 grape varieties!) were bought and picked for the first time in 2006

How the grapes are grown

Pruned very short (1 eye), tilled soil (caterpillar tractor, low compacting), Certified "agriculture raisonnée" but working organically now for 2 years, harvest strictly reduced in July for even maturity and maximum ripeness and aeration, harvest in small "cagettes" to avoid crushing before they get to the cave.

"My goal is to make one of the rarest of wines — imbued with moments of light, a nectar that, blended with good friends, turns day to day into fond memory."
